Dr. Khalil Challita

Dr. Khalil Challita is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Warwick. He joined Warwick in September 2022 as a Senior Teaching Fellow before transitioning to his current faculty role. His academic experience spans both French and American educational settings, bringing an international perspective to his teaching and research.

Dr. Challita’s research interests span several core areas of computer science, including cyber security, computer security, artificial intelligence, algorithm analysis, and the theory of computation . His early scholarly contributions explored the intersection of cryptography and steganography, mobile agents for network access control, biometric authentication for intrusion detection systems, and heuristic optimization algorithms for scheduling problems .

At Warwick, Dr. Challita serves as module leader for several courses across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He leads CS435/915 Advanced Computer Security for MSc students, CS126 Design of Information Structures, CS263 Cyber Security, and MA117 Programming for Scientists (a cross-departmental module serving mathematics students) . He also teaches within the Degree Apprenticeship programmes, including CS1D1 Programming and Data Structures and CS1D6 Introduction to Data and Statistics .

Dr. Challita supervises BSc, MSc, MEng, and Computer Systems Engineering students across topics including cyber security, machine learning, graph algorithms, and advanced security protocols. He has served on university-wide committees including the Curriculum Approval Panel  and is recognized as an APP Experience Associate Fellow . He also contributes to educator outreach through workshops on prompt engineering for educators and cybersecurity for teachers and learners
